Couritos

Couritos

A modular system of temporary stalls designed for the annual Couritos Wine Festival in northern Greece, developed and delivered pro bono in close collaboration with the local community. The project took place in Katerina Examiliotou’s home village, in the wider Drama region, grounding the work in long-term local knowledge and care.

Designed with a zero construction budget, the stalls were fabricated using spare components provided by local metalworkers, alongside reused and salvaged fabrics that vary each year depending on availability. The lightweight system allows for rapid assembly and disassembly, compact storage, and incremental expansion as the festival has grown.

Originally built in 2010, the stalls have remained in continuous use for over 15 years, demonstrating how modest, resource-efficient architecture can endure through adaptability, repair, and collective stewardship.
