House on Afroditis Street

Transforming a developer-built shell into a warm, carefully crafted home.

Located within an apartment block in Greece, the project involved the transformation of this duplex for a young couple. Working within the fixed structure of the building and a tightly controlled construction budget, the project focused on improving the quality of everyday living through careful spatial organisation, bespoke detailing and a restrained material palette.

Rather than reinventing the architecture, the intervention concentrated on refining the interiors: designing the staircase as the spatial centrepiece, integrating storage throughout, and developing custom bathrooms, lighting and joinery to maximise the compact footprint. The project balanced the clients' aspirations with practical construction constraints, working closely with the contractor to deliver robust and achievable solutions.

The result is a calm, functional home where relatively modest interventions create a greater sense of coherence, warmth and generosity than the original developer specification.
